Section 6 - Parking

Parking has a major impact on the way a neighbourhood looks, feels and works. There are no perfect answers - it is about finding the right balance.

We know that for many people in Stamford and the surrounding area, access to a car is an important part of everyday life. The amount of parking provided for homes, shops and community facilities is already set through the planning process. As part of the Design Code, we will be considering how parking is arranged throughout Stamford North, from individual homes through to shared parking areas and community facilities.

Alongside this, we are interested in understanding whether there are other ways to make day-to-day travel easier and more flexible. One option is a car club, which gives people access to a vehicle when they need one, without necessarily needing to own an additional car themselves.

This section is not about removing access to cars, but understanding whether there are ways of making it easier for households to rely less on the car.
